Carlita and DeMarion’s Maternity Story at Falls Lake

Celebrating the body and beauty in motherhood is one of my favorite things. It’s peaceful, expectant and empowering. To shine a little light on the uniqueness of the pregnant body because it really is so temporary. Your body will not even look the same with the next child, pregnancy is such a powerful way to teach you how to be present and live in the changing moment.

I was honored to get to capture this hilarious and truly connected couple earlier last Summer. Their love, support and strength together was inspiring and translated with perfect ease into their birth space (which I also got to capture and will be sharing that story soon) DeMarion is a joker and so in love with his wife that taking photos of their emotions and excitement was one of my easiest jobs from 2018 :P And Carlita well you can see how stunning and well fitted to her beautiful pregnant body she was. She had a grace and power that just shown through each frame.

They were both open to adventure and wanted to capture the beauty of the bare bump (my favorite thing in all maternity sessions.) We all were battling the water early one Sunday morning (me with my full camera gear, being a risk taker for no reason, waist deep in the water, shorts completely soaked :P) I just wanted us all to feel the water and get a little carried away with the natural setting.

They told me later after I chose this spot, that they had come here countless times before they were married, for dates and long talks. It brought even more significance to the natural beauty of Falls Lake, to know that they had a history here and were making more memories by celebrating their growing little girl here too.
