Aidas S. Newborn
Aidas S. Newborn Session | Durham, NC Family Photography
I am true believer that stories start at home. It's where we find ourselves most comfortable, vulnerable, free, self aware and candid about our lives. We take so much pride in our nest, the way we've put it together, kept it tidy and filled it with life. We also treat it occasionally as an extension of ourselves noticing every imperfection and flaw. Home is where we can literally and figuratively let our hair down and finally be transparent, tired and overwhelmed. It can be simultaneously the safest and most vulnerable place.
These things are never more true than when bringing a newborn home. It is all of those things times 100 exhausted hours, fears of not being enough and tears. These seasons can be rough and are often simply forgotten or resented even. But there really is so much beauty in the way we exist at home in those first few weeks. It's slower, it's intimate, it's a lot of a learning curve but mostly its beautiful.
This family melted me, with their openness and vulnerability to have me come and capture this intimate part of their story. They were tired but joyful. Their oldest was still on his learning curve to loving and accepting his little brother. He was free spirited but tender. G. was such. beautiful picture of motherhood and I loved being able to capture her close bond with her two sons there in their home.
For me home lifestyle sessions are what family photography is about. It's about capturing the moments, celebration and emotion that comes with every season of life. It's about telling your real parenthood story of exhaustion and love in an artful, emotive and beautiful way. Congrats to the S family and their new little arrival, may their days be filled with extra doses of sleep and cozy mornings together as a family of four.
