6 Weeks Herbal Bath
When we first set out to capture this series I remember L. talking about how her favorite place was this bathtub. Her place to relax and gain a little alone time amidst the chaos of a life with all her growing boys. And each session we did here felt exactly like that, a place for solitude and reflection. I was so excited to come back and capture her and little Hayes one weekday morning. All the older boys were off at school and we could spend a moment just the two of them. L and her last little boy snuggled together! Looking at these moments myself bring me to tears, I wish I had these moments of me and my little. Her vulnerability and strength is so beautiful in this set and I thought it was such a perfect way to begin the close of this series. From second trimester solitude to holding her precious baby in her arms!
4 Months as a Family of Seven
This family session was truly our last in the series. We came together to just capture the power and beauty of this family. These two people who have loved and continue to love these five boys. L and spent a whole afternoon picking out each boy’s outfit and I just love how it all turned out! Hayes was only 4 months at the time and was so curious and mom centered! It was a sweet and simple way to grab precious family memories of their story.
A Year Later the Final Part of the Motherhood Project 2018
After we had wrapped up the series, we all stayed in contact. L. was so incredible throughout my won pregnancy always sending encouragement and even participating in my own Blessing Way in September. I was so honored that this time they chose me to be their photographer :P and we captured this precious family again a year later! They were one of my last sessions before Jude arrived and it was so fun just running around the field with them. I had all the older boys carrying my things (since I was 38-ish weeks pregnant at the time) I loved being able to re-connect with them all and see how grown up they have all become. I think almost all the boys are even taller than I am now :P
This series was exactly the dose of creativity I needed that year. I needed a way to just express this powerful motherhood journey. It does not end at pregnancy or birth. It is an ever growing, changing and sacrificing journey of motherhood. The choice to become a mother is truly that and a choice you make each and every day. It is beautiful in its chaos and L truly taught me that!
